Retirement and Taxes
I’m tired of looking at the calendar. Because it seems that every time I look, I’m
flipping the page. And being one that loves to work and is passionate
about my current role – automating tax systems – I can say honestly that
I just don’t see myself being retired. But for those that are getting
close, there are a number of online sources that provide pertinent facts
regarding the states where you will eventually call home.
One site that seemed to have state information fairly organized is
www.retirementliving.com.
It provides a graphical interface of the United States where you can
click on any state and have a summary of their property, sales and
personal income taxes. There are many other factors to consider like
health, climate and housing costs, but if you’re concerned on what you
may lose in tax money, this site is a good place to start.
Getting back to the calendar thing, I’m lamenting that I’ve lived long enough to see the
tax on gasoline exceed what it used to cost for the entire gallon.
Maybe it’s time to focus on solar.
